Comfrey - The Happy Healing Herb

Comfrey, Symphytum officinalis,  is a centerpiece for the gardens at MedicineWoods. I came to know this plant is 1983 or so, when I lived in Miami, FL. I rented a hippie house in South Miami that came with an organic garden bed with a very large comfrey plant. I was just newly practicing massage therapy. I knew this was a healing plant, ie beneficial to the skin, had also been used and called "knitbone" as a bone healer during the Civil War.

My journey with plants had specific markers and relationships with various plants. Starting with dandelion when I was a teen, rosemary my first year of college in Santa Barbara, CA, yerba santa in the central coastal California mountains near Hopland in my mid 20's then comfrey in my late 20's and forever more. I love this plant. It is blooming abundantly all over the garden. I find her cheerful and happy.
