Passion for plants is my purpose.

It started a long time ago. Finding that many plants growing all around me had useful properties that I could incorporate into my daily life. From teas to cleaning products, it seemed plants, nuts and berries were not only delicious but useful.
And so it has gone. Currently in the apothecary I am working on this years Dandelion harvest. They have been dried and are ready for their friends rosemary and comfrey (new additions) to join them in the jar to be covered in a blend of almond and apricot oils.

I will use this oil to whip up a batch of this years batch of Dandelion Cream. In order to have an oil rich in the properties of the dandelion blossoms, I use a lot per batch. A batch is a half gallon jar and I usually get two on the shelf. I like to let them steep for a month. This year the steeping jars will require close moderation as I will be using fresh rosemary and comfrey leaf.
Generally, for medicinal oils, we use dried herbs. In this way, the moisture has been removed so as not to spoil the infusing oil. I will check it every couple of days until it is ready for straining.
For tea fresh herbs are suggested. And in some cases recommended!!! For mints especially. But the truth is, drying an herb does concentrate not only flavor, but medicinal value. Nettles for example. And they liked to be steeped in water a long time called an infusion. This particular herb is your vitamin in a cup. Packed full of vitamins and minerals......that is another post.
