Remembering the Fallen

This week a group of 200 Vietnam vets on Harley's roared through my town on their way to The Wall in Washington DC. It was a moving experience to witness them rolling by, a band of brothers, tied together not only by their motorcycles but more definitively by their service in Vietnam. The war that changed me and how I saw the world.

I was a young teen when this war raged. Girlfriends older brothers came back in caskets. Others came back, damaged, which was clearly apparent to my young self. Collapse of the ecosystem was being predicted by environmantal scholars and the future seemed fraught with despair. Enter herbs, use your imagination, this also changed me. Thus began my life of activism and veering off with the fruits and nuts. Searching for community of likeminded. Seeking safety for our young men and women, for the plants, for the oceans, for the Earth.

These things shaped my life.  It effected the decisions I make about humans, animals, and our beautiful Mother Earth. When you come stay here you will be introduced to bamboo paper, biodegradable soaps, shampoo bars, hummanure, organic food, etc. I am not perfect but I do my best.

What I have realized, and noticed,  as I age, simply put, is that we can only do what we can do.  I find the most satisfaction in "walking my talk" so to speak.  Sharing the tools I have discovered over the years, the practices, the thoughts - without trying to convince you to change.  I am a work in progress.  I thank the the veterans of so long ago who made such a big impact.  I wish they had never been in Vietnam.......but they did teach me, and for this I remain forever grateful.
